Stupid cheap ass computers at work. I've spent the roughly 6 hours updating my damn stock sheets with Excel, and when I tried to open one today at work, it wouldn't let me. I don't freaking get it.
Anyway...
There's this girl, Sam who has worked in the Sterile Processing Dept, for the last 3-4 years. For those that don't know, SPD is the department where the instruments from surgeries are cleaned, packaged and sterilized. She's gone to school for Radiology tech, but is having hella time getting in for clinicals. She was given the opportunity to come up to the OR and get on the job training as a surgical tech. She agreed, and has been here for a week. Ever since Allyson and most of the other techs found out that this was happening, got angry. And I don't blame them, in regards to someone coming in who hasn't been professionally trained at school. Along with the fact that she's is being called a Surgical Tech and getting the same starting wages that a schooled tech would get.
But, this was the decision of the manager of the OR and the Vice President who over sees the nursing staff. So what are you going to do?
Allyson got hauled into the office on Monday, because of her negative comments about the situation. And she was told to stop doing it. Allyson basically told Cindy, the manager, that she wasn't going to stop making the comments, that it was a slap in the face to the techs who paid money to go to school. Which again, I think she's right about it, but what can you do? So everyday that Allyson was here this week, she had to bring up the whole conversation with Cindy.
I'm so sick of hearing about it!! You can't change the situation, so just get over it, and move on! Annie and I were talkin about it at dinner, and if Allyson keeps going, she could lose her job for possible insubordination. And she really needs this job. He husband had a stroke less then two years ago, so he can't work anymore.
Need to go get some work done!!
