Winter Chill...
The story of Zeke...and some other stuff
(2006-02-01, 11:58 p.m.)
Thanks to all of you who left me notes about my last entry. It is a crappy situation, but he made his choice.

It has been an uneventful last couple of days. Just been spending time downloading music and making CD's. I was rather annoyed with Capitol Records/iTunes monday night. I wanted to get "Days Go By" by Dirty Vegas, but you can only get that song if you purchase the whole album. Yeah...I'm thinking No! Thankfully, Annie had it, so I borrowed her CD and burned it.

Turk gets baptized next weekend. Not looking forward to that. The only time I go to church, is for a baptism, wedding or funeral. When Baby Girl got baptized, Bro had a little dinner at their house. They don't think they are going to do anything this time. SIL brother has two kids that are out of control. The kids don't think there is anything wrong with running around inside someone else house, or screaming. Just generally being disruptive. And what do you get a boy for a baptism? We gave Baby Girl a "Add a Pearl" necklace. Suggestions welcomed.
My friend Zeke has got himself...not quite a girlfriend yet, but he's working on it. But it has me frightened. This girl is 29, and only been on one date her entire life. She hinted to Zeke that she would like him to call her parents to get their permission to take her out. She doesn't even live at home. She lives like 5 hours away from them.
Cut the cord honey.
He did it anyways. He was on the phone for an hour talking with her parents. At one point, her dad asked what Zeke's intentions were. He said that he'd been getting to know her by emailing with her, and maybe take her out on a few dates, and become boyfriend/girlfriend. The dad's response was, "I'm not looking for a boyfriend for my daughter, I'm looking for a husband."
Yes, that is a direct quote.
In one of their conversations, it revolved around how long the engagements in her family were. Most of them were married within a year of meeting. When he was talking with her mom, she asked how many kids he wants. He told her how ever many the Lord blessed them with. The thing is, he doesn't want kids. Which is a big thing for him.
And here is the kicker. Her mom made reference to the fact that she submits to her husband, and this girl would do the same thing for her husband.
WTF?
Again, I'm very scared for him. I'm afraid he's getting into something, and he doesn't have the balls to get out of. He is a very passive person, who doesn't have the self confidence to assert himself. He has trouble making decisions by himself, there's no way he could do it if he had a family relying on him.
So anyway, he's going to go see her on Valentine's Day and take her out for lunch, dinner or both, depending on how things go. Then the following friday he's going back up north where she lives, pick her up, come back down, and head out to the Thumb where the are both from, for some church fellowship night. She originally suggested that she would come down here, and then they would go out to the Thumb together.
But he doesn't want her to see his apartment, BECAUSE HE HASN'T CLEANED IT IN 2 1/2 YEARS!! Let's see, your unemployed, it's not happening for two weeks, you have time to clean it.
So that's the story of Zeke for now...
I have to work in the AM, I think it's time to head to bed!
