Winter Chill...
Autrmn montage

Autumn.
Its my favorite season of the year. I know some prefer spring, with the blooming trees, and grass turning from dead to green. Or Summertime, with swimming at the lake, BBQs, and festivals. Yet others glorify winter: skiing, ice fishing, or snowball fights with friends. But for me, its all about autumn.
I love that the weather is getting cooler in the evenings. Perfect time to get out my favorite Green Bay sweatshirt to keep warm with. Walking thru the woods, watching the changing of the color guard, hearing the crunch of their already fallen comrades. Hearing the distant call of a flock of geese as they make their way south to their winter homes. Spending an afternoon at the Great Pumpkin Patch, walking thru, trying to find the perfect specimens for carving. Going on a hay ride, sitting close to your honey, keeping warm. Coming back home with a stash of caramel apples, cinnamon sugar donuts, apple cider and pumpkins galore. Squirrels: red, black, and grey, pillaging and plundering the nearest tree grove, searching for the elusive nut. Working furiously to get everything buried before the snow flies. Four days worth of football. Under the lights Friday night cheering on your high school team. Spending Saturday at the college stadium, tailgating with friends and family. Starting Sunday with the NFL Countdown and finishing up with Monday Night Football. Looking to the stars and finding my favorite warrior making his yearly trek across the night sky. Corn stalks standing sentry at my front door. Taking the raked leaves, fallen tree branches, and passed on flower plants, putting them in a pile and having the last bonfire of the year. Craft shows every weekend. Seeing everyones wares, telling myself, I can do that, knowing it will never happen. The hot air balloon festival, put on by a local business. Getting up early Saturday to see them lift off in the sunrise. Coming back for the night lift off, and when it turns dark, the afterglow; lighting them up where they are illuminated from the inside. The sky so blue, setting off the vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows of the trees. Seeing the first frost of the year, glistening opaque on the airport field as the sun rises.
These are just some of the reasons Autumn is my favorite season. So you can imagine how excited Im getting for September 21st.
